Now, let’s talk about the new hairstyle that has surged in popularity recently.
Some people may ask, what exactly is this fade hairstyle?
Simply put, it is a type of hair trim!
Here are the differences between a normal hair trim and a fade hairstyle.
Normal hair trim:
Most of the cutting will be done with a scissors.
Hair clippers with 15mm, 12mm, 9mm, 6mm, 4mm, 3mm, and other lengths of combs will be used to make a gradient slope.
Fade:
Most of the cutting will be done with hair clippers.
The 6mm comb will be used for the top while the edges will be trimmed with a range of 2mm comb to no comb while the areas in between will be cut as a slope.
The edges are shorter than a normal trim.
This creates a difference in the shade of colour from the top, which would be darker.
The 2 shades will be connected with a gradient slope, nicely blending the two shades together.
Side burns and the edge on the back will be shaved.
This style is called “skin fade”.
A barbershop will cut a fade haircut better than a hair salon.
There are various types of fade haircuts.
1. High fade
The position of the fade is set high above the ears.
This style is more common outside of Japan.
2. Low fade
The fade starts from the bottom of the sideburns, and will end slightly above the ears
This hairstyle is common in Japan, and is a safe choice for people trying out this hairstyle.
3. Mid cut
The position of the fade is between that of high fade and low fade.
Barbershops are becoming more popular these few years.
Barbershops such as world-renowned Schorem and Mr Brothers Cut Club contributed greatly in popularising barbershops around the world.
Old-school hairstyles are making a comeback in recent times.

The difference between grease and wax is that grease has a gloss finish, and is not as stiff as wax.

Since there are many different greases out there, it would be best to try them out personally to find one that suits you!
